After grabbing 3-0 and 5-2 leads, the Avalanche attempted to mount a comeback but fell short as they lost 5-4 and fell into a 3-1 series hole.

After a scoreless 1st period, Brock Nelson roofed a beauty to put the Isles up 1-0. The Isles went on to win 3-2 and take a 3-1 series lead over the top seeded Flyers.

Max Pacioretty tips in a go-ahead marker mid-way through the 3rd period

After Nate Schmidt tied the game at 3 early in the 3rd period, Max Pacioretty tipped in the go-ahead goal halfway though the 3rd period to give the Knights a 4-3 lead. William Karlsson added an insurance goal a minute later and the Knights won 5-3 to take a 3-1 series lead.

Saturday (8/29)

The Bolts top the B’s and take commanding 3-1 series lead

Ondrej Palat continued his strong play with 2 goals as the Bolts topped the Bruins 3-1 and took a 3-1 series lead.

Leo Komarov put the Isles up 2-1 with 6 seconds left in the 2nd period. The Isles would add a 3rd goal in the 3rd period to win 3-1 and take a 2-1 series edge over the Flyers.

Mark Stone buries a Powerplay missile to put the Knight up 3-0

Mark Stone buried a powerplay missile to put the Golden Knights up 3-0 early in the 3rd period. The Knights went on to win 3-0 and take a 2-1 series lead.

Palat’s OT marker knots the series at a game a piece

In Game 2 of the ECSF matchup between the Lightning and Bruins, the bolts were looking for a win to tie the series up heading into Game 3. The teams swapped goals in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd periods as they headed to overtime tied at 3-3. In overtime, Ondrej Palat buried a loose puck to give the Lightning the 4-3 win and tie the series at a game apiece heading into Game 3 Wednesday night.

Elias Pettersson scores a nifty goal in the crease to extend the Canucks’ lead to 3-1

After getting shutout in Game 1, the Canucks offense was determined to get back on track in Game 2. Thanks in part to the return of Tyler Toffoli they were able to do just that as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the 1st period on goals from Toffoli and Horvat. In the 2nd period Alex Tuch cut the lead to 2-1 but Elias Pettersson buried a nifty goal to restore the Canucks’ 2 goal edge. In the 3rd period Bo Horvat scored his 2nd of the game to make it 4-1. The Canucks would go on to win 5-2 after the teams swapped late markers, meaning the series is tied at 1 heading into Game 3.

The New York Islanders and Philadelphia Flyers met for Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Semi-Finals matchup Monday night. The first 2 periods saw only one goal scored by either side as the Isles led 1-0 going into the 3rd period. In the 3rd period the Isles got goals from Pageau, Lee and Toews and Semyon Valamov secured his 29 save shutout to give the Isles a 4-0 win and 1-0 series edge.

The Stars score 5 unanswered goals to top the Avs 5-2 and take a 2-0 series edge

In Game 2 of the WCSF between the Stars and Avs, the Avalanche were determined to get a win and tie the series at a game apiece. They started off strong with a 1st period marker from Nathan Mackinnon and a 2nd period marker from Mikko Rantanen to put the Avs up 2-0. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there for the Avs as Anton Khudobin wouldn’t allow another Avs goal in the game and the Stars scored 4 2nd period goals and an empty-netter to secure a 5-2 win and put the Avs in a 0 games to 2 games series hole.
